Principal Attorney
Charles "Ted" Mathews is a multimillion dollar award-winning trial lawyer, primarily representing plaintiffs individually and in class actions against large corporations and government institutions. Mr. Mathews has obtained over $60 million in verdicts and settlements for his clients and has tried hundreds of jury trials.
Mr. Mathews began his legal career as a Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney, where he gained exceptional trial skills and the ability to connect with jurors at all stages of trial. He then worked as an attorney for Texaco, Inc., actively litigating the company's highest-risk cases and advising on litigation avoidance strategies. He then served as Regional Counsel for Coldwell Banker & Co., gaining direct insight into how senior executives at large organizations operate and what they care about.
In 1980, Mr. Mathews entered private practice and has built a reputation based on zealous advocacy and numerous multimillion dollar verdicts and settlements. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
As an arbitrator, Mr. Mathews has decided cases involving disputes between some of the largest corporations in the world and small businesses and individuals alike. Over a 45-year career he has served as a defense attorney, a plaintiff's trial lawyer, in-house corporate counsel, and a Deputy District Attorney — giving him a perspective most neutrals simply don't have. He has conducted thousands of arbitrations and mediations, as both advocate and neutral.
When sitting as arbitrator, his approach is deliberate and disciplined: he evaluates the evidence, evaluates the law, and issues an award that fairly resolves the case. He brings the same meticulous preparation to dispute resolution that has defined four decades of trial work.
